Former MCE British Superbike racer Kieran Clarke will join the CIA Insurance Honda team for the 2015 World Supersport championship. The Nottinghamshire rider is set to make a return to competitive racing after two seasons out as a Hollywood stuntman.

Clarke has previous experience with the team, riding for them in the 2012 season alongside Sam Lowes. And despite his hiatus from racing, he believes that he can return to the sharp end and challenge for podiums in 2015.

“Coming back to PTR feels a bit like Déjà vu but now it is CIA Landlords Insurance Honda. This was my first and only choice to return to racing, I was not prepared to compromise with competitiveness at all, I would have preferred to stay out of racing entirely. I have complete faith in the team and set up to deliver me a competitive race bike.”

“My ambitions are to run at the front of the Championship and fight for the podium. Saying that, my realistic short-term goal is to take it one step at a time; I am under no illusion how hard it will be.”

“I have raced for two decades and in the last two years I have been doing stunt work and coaching. I have probably worked more on my riding skills in the last two years than ever as a result. I can’t wait to get racing.”

Simon Buckmaster, PTR Honda team manager, added: “It’s great to have Kieran back in the team and we are looking forward to seeing what he can achieve with a full season on a competitive bike. We have high hopes, but they are also realistic and he is one of the easiest and best people to work with, so we can’t wait to get started.”
