Camier now waits for Australia

As one of the smaller manufacturers in WSB racing MV Agusta has not got the resources of some other teams but it is a full factory effort in 2015, with one rider to focus on in the tall shape of Leon Camier.

After their last European test of the off-season, at Portimao, Camier was happy with the work done by his team, but knows the changeable weather meant that there are a lot of question marks to take to Australia.

“We made some really good progress in a short space of time considering what we had to get through,” said Camier. “We knew the direction we had to go in and we made a lot of the changes in the wet, which is sort of guessing if it is working right in the wet. You have the same feeling but until you test in the dry you cannot get the full feedback. But we are definitely in the right direction.”

Unlike most of his peers he will not now travel to Jerez in a few days as the team has to go back and work on the material they will finally take to Australia. “For sure we need the time on track but I think it is a bit tight for time for the boys to get everything done,” said Camier. “It is a shame because I do feel that we need more track time. It is a big job to get done what we want to get done, and to be where we want to end up, but we have just got to keep working.”

“The more time on track the better for us, the clearer stuff becomes. There are a lot of things to do with electronics. It seems like from where they have been we have had to really restart, from zero, all the way with how the strategies work. The traction control seems not too bad – for sure we can improve it – but the way the engine brake is has been totally wrong. From now we are nearly starting from scratch again. That’s why we need so much more time on track.”
