Patrick Jacobsen (Core” Motorsport Thailand Honda) won the 14-lap WSS race from the front at Sepang but had to overcome a last corner attack from Jules Cluzel (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) to do it.

Lorenzo Zanetti (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) harried Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) for most of the race and pounced at the end to take third place and help his team-mate’s championship chances.

Drops of rain on all sectors at the third lap stage of the WSS race made it a tough period for all in the early stages but the rains amounted to nothing of significance.

Cluzel and Jacobsen ran out front in the early stages, with Jacobsen settling into a lead in the first third.

Behind the eventual top four Kyle Smith (PATA Honda World Supersport Team) led a pack of six riders and rode clear of them for fifth place at the flag, nine seconds down, while Roberto Rolfo (Team Lorini Honda), Martin Cardenas (CIA Landlords Insurance Honda) and Gino Rea (CIA Landlords Insurance Honda) completed the top eight places.

There is now only 13 points between leader Sofuoglu and Cluzel in the championship fight.
