Coghlan the only Brit in FIM Superstock Cups

Scottish rider Kev Coghlan is the only British rider set to line up on the grid for both the Superstock 1000 and Superstock 600 FIM Cup championships this season.

The twenty six year old will ride for the MRS Yamaha team on the new R1M machine, lining up alongside former World Supersport rival Florian Marino, with the duo making the move over from the 600cc class.

“It’s going to be a bit of learning to get used to a 1000cc bike again, but expectations are high. We’ve got a great bike, great team, and good support form Yamaha; it’s a full package. It’s just up to us now to go out and get onto the top step with it!”

The change comes as the Japanese manufacturer begins a big push across both world and national series to see the new machine become a front-runner, in preparation for supporting one of their teams in the step up to World Superbikes next season.

The eight calendar series, which runs alongside the European World Superbike races, gets underway next weekend at Aragon.
