1 of 1

KRT rider Jonathan Rea set a 1’47.344 lap to sit on top of the timesheets after the first day of WSB action at Imola, ending up 0.173 seconds ahead of his team-mate Tom Sykes.

The two official Kawasaki riders placed themselves just in front of the two official Aruba.it Ducati WSB competitors, Davide Giugliano and Chaz Davies, as Giugliano continued his great return to action.

Leon Haslam (Aprilia Racing Red Devils) was just behind the leading four again, in a session held in warm sunshine and on a dry track once more.

Alex Lowes (Voltcom Crescent Suzuki) moved up to sixth and Ayrton Badovini (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) was seventh, surviving a moment where he lit up the rear tyre on the exit of the final chicane.

David Salom (Kawasaki Team Pedercini) completed the top eight places.

On his Barni Racing team’s home ground Argentinean Leandro Mercado scored ninth on his Ducati after two sessions while world champion Sylvain Guintoli was tenth for Pata Honda.

Of the top riders only Leon Camier was unable to improve his morning time and he slipped back to 14th on his MV Agusta Reparto Corse F4 as a result.
