Davies hoping for Donington boost

Chaz Davies is confident he has the package to challenge the Kawasakis as the World Superbike championship hits Donington Park this weekend.

The Welshman has never won at the Leicestershire circuit but is hoping this year’s new gearbox will give the Ducati Panigale R a boost.

Tom Sykes has won the last six races at Donington but a breakthrough for Davies saw him take two third places last year, something he’s hoping to build on this time around.

“It’s always nice to see everybody and ride in front of my family and friends, but on the other hand it’s just another race and it’s important not to get too carried away and to maintain the same approach,” said Davies. “Our goal is, as usual, to be competitive from the very first session and keep improving throughout the weekend to finish in front. It won’t be easy to beat the competition, especially Sykes, but last year we already made a step in the right direction after a difficult 2014, and I believe that the different gearbox could give us some extra help. We have the potential to aim high.”
