West to stand in for Barrier in Sepang

Anthony West will return to the World Superbike championship this weekend as he fills in for the injured Sylvain Barrier at Pedercini Kawasaki.

The Frenchman has been out of action since breaking his hand at the third round of the series at Aragon and despite hopes he’d be back on the grid in Sepang this weekend, he remains sidelined as he continues to recover from his injuries.

West will be the team’s second replacement for Barrier after Lucas Mahias, who stood in at the last two rounds, fractured three vertebrae in an incident at Imola.

Former Grand Prix racer West is without a full-time ride for 2016 but showed he’s still got pace in two wildcard entries in the Supersport World Championship, including a podium finish at Phillip Island earlier this year.
