WSB: Davies takes pole from Sykes in Germany

Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) secured his third ever pole position, and his second of 2016, with a 1’37.883 lap on a rapidly drying track at the Lausitzring.

Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) ran Davies closest and took second place, with Nicky Hayden (Honda World Superbike Team) in third.

Fastest pre-Superpole qualifier Lorenzo Savadori (IodaRacing Team Aprilia) earned fourth place as the track dried out. With Jordi Torres (Althea BMW Racing Team) in fifth there were five different manufacturers represented in the top five positions. Having had to qualify in Superpole 1 before even taking part in Superpole 2, Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) made a good recovery from his tricky first day to finish sixth on the grid taken an important second row starting position. Leon Camier (MV Agusta Reparto Corse), in seventh, made it six different bikes inside the top seven grid places.

Superpole 1 qualifier Davide Giugliano (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) made it into Superpole 2 and then was eighth overall, with comeback rider Sylvain Guintoli (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team) ninth.

Michael van der Mark (Honda World Superbike Team), Markus Reiterberger (Althea BMW Racing Team) and Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team) rounded out the top 12 riders for the start of the first race of the weekend, which is scheduled to commence on time at 13.00 CET.
