WSB: Savadori mixes up the order on Day 2 in Jerez

1 of 1

Italian youngster Lorenzo Savadori impressed in Jerez this week as he mixed it up with the factory Kawasaki and Ducati machinery to place second at the end of the two days on track.

The former European Superstock 1000 Champion took to the top of the timesheets mid-way through Wednesday afternoon after he stuck a qualifying tyre in his Milwaukee Aprilia RSV4-RF.

However, it wasn’t just with sticky tyres that Savadori impressed. At no point throughout the day was he more than 0.6seconds off the man at the top of the timesheets. It had even looked as though the Italian could top the test as the day went on, but a quick lap from Jonathan Rea on a new race tyre saw the World Champion sneak ahead of the young gun by just 0.1seconds.

“Today was a good day!” he said, speaking to MCN at the track. “I needed more laps with the new bike and the team and I needed to do some testing laps in Superbike as I’ve never tested before! It ended up quite positive. We needed to work arrive closer to the top. It’s not simple to do that but Aprilia, the team and my new crew chief worked hard for this. For the first test it is very good but it is difficult because I have only ridden the bike twice but the initial sensation is good.”
