1 of 1

Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) ran away with the first race at Imola despite it making it to only 14 laps, and the result counted back to lap 12.

An incident that went to race direction for investigation saw Eugene Laverty (Milwaukee Aprilia) crash after an apparent incident with Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team) with his bike hitting the wall at the Rivazza 1 corner and bursting into flames. No further action was taken and Laverty walked away from the crash, albeit hurting.

With the results back to lap 12 the podium finished with Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) second and Marco Melandri (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) well behind in third.

Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) sitting behind Melandri but on pace with him, was fourth, almost ten seconds from Davies.

Xavi Fores (Barni Racing Ducati) placed fifth, and a clear sixth place came for Leon Camier (MV Agusta Reparto Corse).

Michael van der Mark (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team) and Lowes were seventh and eighth, with Roman Ramos (Team GOELEVEN Kawasaki) and Stefan Bradl (Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team) rounding out the top ten.

Nicky Hayden (Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team) was forced to retire with a technical issue.
