WSB: Confirmed: Guintoli set for remainder of WSB season with Puccetti

Sylvain Guintoli will make a return to the Superbike World Championship for the final two rounds of the season with the Puccetti Kawasaki team.

As reported by MCN earlier this month, the 2014 World Superbike Champion will join the Italian squad in Jerez and Qatar with a view to competing with the squad next year.

Guintoli has just completed a tough year in BSB, but showed he still has pace at Assen two weeks ago as he returned to the top step for the first time since leaving the world stage.

“I am very happy to be back in World Superbikes for the last two rounds of the season,” Guintoli said. “Jerez and Doha are fantastic race tracks and I have many memories related to these layouts. I can’t wait to try the ZX-10RR machine and I would like to thank both Manuel Puccetti and Kawasaki for this great opportunity.”

The team haven’t yet announced their plans for their Supersport bikes, with Kenan Sofuoglu out injured and Kyle Ryde having departed the team. There is a chance Sofuoglu could try and ride in Jerez, but this is unlikely. Leon Haslam had been pencilled in to replace the Turk until he was injured in the final round of the British Championship this weekend. Anthony West, who Guintoli replaces on the Superbike, is expected to take on one of the bikes.
