WSB: Gagne to stand in for injured Bradl at Red Bull Honda

American youngster Jake Gagne will ride for the Red Bull Honda team alongside Davide Giugliano at Magny Cours this weekend as Stefan Bradl sits out through injury.

Bradl tore a ligament in his right wrist after highsiding out of eighth place in the opening race at Portimao two weeks ago and will therefore miss this weekend’s action as he looks to recover ahead of the next round in Jerez later in October.
Gagne is no stranger to the Red Bull WSB team after being chosen as the first rider to take the seat of the late Nicky Hayden at Laguna Seca earlier this year.

The 2010 Red Bull Rookies Champion scored points in both races as he made his WSB debut, enough to impress the squad to invite him back this weekend.

“First of all I’d like to wish Stefan a speedy recovery,” Gagne said. “I’ve been there before and it’s never nice to have to stay away from racing due to injury. Laguna Seca was a dream come true for me, and the knowledge and experience I gained from the team throughout that weekend was massive. It will be nice to have some experience with this version of the Fireblade going into FP1. Magny-Cours is a completely new track for me but I look forward to the challenge of racing on a new circuit and continuing to learn to grow. I have also never been to France, so it will be an exciting week!”

Gagne will join Davide Giugliano in the Ten Kate squad, who returns to team for the penultimate time this year. The Italian will also ride for the team in Qatar, with HRC test rider Takumi Takahasi on the Fireblade SP2 in Jerez next month.
