WSB: Laguna returns to calendar for 2019, no Kyalami

Laguna Seca has returned to the 2019 World Superbike calendar after initially being dropped for the upcoming season.

Circuit bosses had been unable to agree a date with World Superbike rights’ holders Dorna, who wanted to run the event in August on a weekend that clashed with a car event at the Californian circuit.

A round at South Africa’s Kyalami circuit, which hasn’t been on the calendar since 2010, had been pencilled into the calendar as ‘TBA’ for 19-21 July, but it would seem this proposal has since fallen through with an update to the calendar confirming a round at Laguna to take place between 12-14 July.

The revision now means that the American event will be back-to-back with the UK round at Donington Park, which could prove a logistical challenge as the paddock moves from the United Kingdom to California in the space of just a few days.
