WSB: Champ Rea doubles up in France

Four-time World Superbike champion Jonathan Rea continued to dominant in Magny Cours this weekend as he doubled up to take the second race win from Chaz Davies.

Starting from second on the grid with Rea back in ninth, Davies grabbed the holeshot and tried to pull away in the early stages of the race and while it took Rea some time to chase him down, he would eventually catch and pass the Ducati star, who is still recovering from breaking his collarbone twice in the summer break, to take his 14th win of the season and eighth victory in a row, matching Troy Bayliss’s longest WSB winning streak from 2006.

Michael van der Mark completed the rostrum for Yamaha in third place, with Tom Sykes taking fourth from Marco Melandri in the closing stages of the race.

Lorenzo Savadori took sixth to complete his best weekend of the year ahead of Alex Lowes, who salvaged points from a disappointing weekend.

Xavi Fores was eighth for Barni Ducati ahead of Leon Camier and Loris Baz.

The championship resumes in two weeks’ time in Argentina.
