Our push for more motorcyclists is today stepping up a gear – by offering new prizes worth £25,000 to readers who help.
The MCN 1000 campaign is asking you to be an ambassador for biking by persuading someone to take it up and send us a picture of them with their CBT certificate as proof.
And we’re promising to reward one ambassador and new rider with vouchers worth thousands of pounds to spend on a new motorcycle and kit.
Once we’ve reached our goal of 1000 new riders, we’ll randomly choose a new rider and the ambassador who recruited them and give them a £5000 and £10,000 voucher respectively.
|
Then we’ll put all the remaining ambassador and new rider names into a hat and choose another 20 to win a £500 voucher each.
We’re able to offer these fantastic rewards thanks to backing from Get On, the bike industry’s campaign to grow motorcycling’s ranks by 35,000.
The vouchers can be spent with any bike manufacturer backing Get On, including the Japanese big four, Aprilia, BMW, Harley-Davidson, MV Agusta, Piaggio and many more. |

Option 1: You could buy... Kawasaki ZZR1400 (£9799) + £201 of kit |
Or they can be spent on kit from Arai, BKS, Abus, Frank Thomas, Motrax, Oxford, Rev’It!, Weise and dozens of other quality brands.
That’s in addition to a top-name Xena disc lock worth £24 offered as a guaranteed prize to the first 250 ambassadors. It makes a total prize fund of £30,000.
|
Option 2: You could buy... Suzuki GSX-R750 (£9399) + Arai Chaser V (£409.99) + Abus Granit Extreme Chain
|
Exactly how prize winners spend their vouchers is up to them – choose from the scores of top brands linked to Get On and have them delivered to you door. You could even spend them on insurance from the likes of Carole Nash or Devitt.
And there are also plenty of Xena disc locks still waiting to be claimed - but you’d better hurry to get one.
Our MCN 1000 campaign is fighting back against a tide of pressures, from ‘safety’ lobby groups to EU legislation, which is threatening to shrink motorcycling. |
We’re one fifth the way to the target, and all those who have already taken part will be included in the prize draw.
In order to be eligible, all new riders from today must take a free supervised ride provided by Get On at training centres across the country before doing CBT. See details below.
We’ll choose the winners from those who attend a meeting and ride-out for all participants at the end of the campaign. Keep checking MCN for more details.
What you could win
• £5000 voucher for one new rider to spend on a new bike and kit.
• £10,000 voucher for the person who recruited the winning new rider.
• 20 £500 vouchers for runners-up.
The vouchers can be spent with any of the supporters of the Get On campaign, including all the major bike manufacturers except Ducati and Triumph, and a hoard of top quality accessory, kit and insurance retailers.
Basically, you choose the bike and kit you want, let the Get On team know and they’ll do the rest. Find more details on Get On at www.geton.co.uk
How to enter
1. Extol the virtues of motorcycling to a friend or relative. Get them to do a free supervised try-out on a bike at a training centre near you.
This is part of the excellent Get On campaign from the MCIA, and everything from instruction to kit is provided free. The scheme is even offering the chance to win iPods – on top of the prizes announced today. Find details at www.geton.co.uk
2. Now get your friend or relative to take their CBT (Compulsory Basic Training – see motorcyclenews.com/newrider or geton.co.uk for help).
3. Send a photograph of them holding their CBT certificate to alison.silcox@motorcyclenews.com. Make sure the date on the certificate is visible.
Include in your email the full name, address and phone number of both yourself and your new rider, along with their Get On user name, date and place of free ride.
Entries which don’t include these details will not be eligible for prizes. Remember the photo must be of someone you encouraged to take up biking – it can’t be yourself.
|
4. Check the post and keep checking MCN for updates. We’ll send the first 250 ambassadors a Sold Secure-approved disc lock from top manufacturer Xena (www.motohaus.com), resistant to picking, ice-spray and crow bar attack.
Once we’ve reached our goal of 1000 new bikers, we’ll announce the details of an event for all participants.
From those who attend, we’ll randomly choose one ambassador and new rider to win a £10,000 and £5000 voucher respectively. Another 20 participants will get a £500 voucher each. |
The new rider could buy... Kawasaki Ninja 250R (£4099) + Oxford Ground Defiance Ground anchor (£142.49) + Spyke Motika Jacket (£429.99) + Ben Spies Rep HJC (£237.49) + £92 towards insurance. |
