Deadly 720 world record

The Top Gear stunt team established a first world record double loop-the-loop using a motorbike at Birmingham’s NEC last week.
Stunt rider, Gary Hoptrough successfully completed the Deadly 720 on a 2013 KTM 250 SX-F motocross bike. The machine was standard with the exception of recalibrated suspension used to cope with the extreme demands.
The stunt was performed for the first time in front of a live audience at the Top Gear Live show in Birmingham on October 25. The team recently completed the same stunt using a modified buggy in front of 68,000 people in South Africa last June. It was recognised as the first double loop using a car by Guinness World Records.
Top Gear Presenter, Jeremy Clarkson was equally amazed. He said: “We started Top Gear in its current incarnation ten years ago as a pokey little motoring show and never dreamt of setting World Records.
To be fair, all James, Richard and I did was to stand on stage and introduce a stunt man mad enough to want to turn himself upside twice on a bike. But it was pretty nerve wracking and spectacular!”
