A fantastic piece of history that we have had on display in our store for a while now but we have decided to move it on.. This Triumph Cycle co of Coventry Type C Roadster 500 has all the original components fitted, sturmey archer Hub, Lucas king of the road lights. All the history is there. This 1913 model has bore and stroke dimensions of 85×88 mm, giving 499 cc. High quality of finish and workmanship were always very strong points with Triumph; year by year details in the design were improved. Some of the refinements listed in the 1913 catalogue were: new silencer with extension pipe to rear , new wide and curved front mudguard, redesigned foot brake with straight pull throughout and gauze cover on carburettor. The famous 3½hp model first appeared in 1907. Originally of 453cc, its sidevalve engine was enlarged to 476cc in 1908 and finally to 499cc in 1910 before being superseded by the 4hp model in 1914. A belt-driven model equipped with the Philipson Pulley variable gear. It was inported back into the UK in 1961, having spent some time overseas. It comes to us just as you see it, we havent tried to start it, that will be the pleasure of the new keeper. I should hope I dont have to state the obvious but there is no warranty with the bike. It is sold on as a collectors item and its histotical value is based on it still being in one piece after all these years. There are a couple of catalogues with the bike showing previous sale and also an owners handbook of sorts and other historical publications. Watch the video at www.mcobikes.co.uk. Please note the reg plate has been valued at £8000 alone
