Don't park too close to the Tower

An amusing tale….

My friend Adam Stafford and I have recently returned from a 3 day ‘mini-tour’ in Northern France.

On Thursday we drove to Paris.

Keen to see as much as possible in a short space of time, we parked our bikes as close as possible to all the major sites. It was a Bank Holiday in France, and so this proved surprisingly easy.

Mid afternoon we found a fabulous cafe with a terrific view of the Eiffel Tower.

Adam parked his Honda Blackbird and went to activate the Datatool System 3 alarm….nothing….the LED light came on but not a beep to be heard!

After the standard 10 seconds the Alarm ‘self-armed’. Meanwhile I had done exactly the same with my VFR….not a squeak from the Alarm Fob, but a fully ‘self-armed’ and therefore ‘immobile’ machine!

Eventually, after much deliberation we could only assume that the various and plentiful Radio transmitters on top of the great Tower were enough to render the \Datatool Fob useless.

We pushed both machines ( alarms and all! )  2 blocks away, and out of ‘eye-sight’ of the Tower and ‘hey-presto’…..we were up and running.

The photo was taken by Pete (a passing Tourist from LA) !……the  bike lights are on of course, as we didn’t dare turn the engines off again till we were well away!
