Suzuki’s big-selling SV650 gets a bigger brother for 2003 – the SV1000. Pitched at Yamaha’s Fazer 1000, the new SV houses Suzuki’s potent TL1000 motor.
We’ll have more details on the new SV1000 in the September 18 issue of MCN, but here’s a taste of what we can expect.
*Like the 650 the SV1000 will come in unfaired and half- faired, the SV1000S, versions.
* Featuring the same 996cc 90-degree V-twin as the original TL, the SV will also benefit from Suzuki’s SDTV fuel injection system.
*No power figures have been released, but you can expect it to make around 115bhp at the back wheel.
*It features a longer wheelbase and rake to give it greater stability than the original TL1000S.
*It will be priced to compete with the Fazer 1000 and Hornet 900 – so expect it to retail at around £6000 in the Spring.
