New bangers from Mash: Affordable Belena 125 and 300 machines start at just £3399

Mash Motorcycles have launched their new range of Belena scooter models, which will be available in a choice of 125 or 300cc guises and arrive in dealers from this month.

“The Mash Belena embodies our vision of the future of urban mobility,” Managing Director Jean-Michel Paquient said. “We have designed this scooter to offer a modern, comfortable and accessible riding experience for everyone.”

The French company, who produce their bikes in China, say the models are designed for practical urban riding and beyond, with the pair differing by their engines alone.

Focusing on the larger of the two, the A2 friendly 300 uses a 276cc single-cylinder engine producing a claimed 23.5bhp at 7500rpm. Feeding the power via a belt drive, the bike tips the scales at a manageable 165kg with an easy-going 760mm seat height.

Starting at £3399 for the 125 and climbing slightly to £3999 for the larger 300, the Mash undercuts more premium rivals such as the £6205 Yamaha XMAX 300 and £5799 Honda ADV350. That said, both of these machines produce slightly more power, with a considerably more well established dealer network offering back-up.

Rolling on a 14in front and 13in rear wheel, the Belenas feature full LED headlights with striking X-shaped strips that flank the conventional non-adjustable forks. You also get a keyless ignition and lighting for the underseat storage – plus Bluetooth connectivity to allow for your own personal music choice to be played. For practicality, there is both a side and centrestand.
