BSB: Positive first day for Buchan and Tsingtao MSS Kawasaki

Danny Buchan has been testing a Tsigntao MSS liveried Kawasaki ZX-10R at Cadwell Park today as he ponders over options for his future in the MCE British Superbike championship.

The 23-year-old split with the Lloyds British MotoRapido Ducati team last week and has a couple of short term options on the table from established teams, but is currently looking at riding an ex-Halsall Racing Kawasaki, prepared by Nick Morgan at MSS and supported by the Tsingtao Racing team.

Having enjoyed his strongest BSB results on a Kawasaki, Buchan felt it was the natural route to go back to the four cylinder ZX-10R as he looks to re-establish himself in the field.

Completing more laps of the Cadwell Park circuit than any other rider on Tuesday, the Essex lad was happy with his progress.

“I’m feeling comfortable straight away, I got straight back on it and was pretty fast almost from the off,” he told MCN at the track. “I’ve got a fair few laps in which I wanted to do, the pace seems to be alright. Considering we only got the bike on Sunday, sent it straight to MSS to be fixed up ready to come here!

“I’m really enjoying it and I’ve got a smile back on my face. When you have a bad time in racing you kind of lose sight of why you do it. I know this is a job but you have to enjoy it otherwise it becomes a lot harder to ride. I did enjoy riding the Ducati but the results weren’t coming and ultimately when the results aren’t coming, it does get your head down a bit.”

While nothing is yet set in concrete, it’s expected Buchan will race the bike at Cadwell next weekend but he’s waiting until after this current test to make a final decision.
