Alpinestars Web Gore-Tex boots, £159.99 (£159.95 on MCN shop)
Miles covered/time:
6000/one year

What’s good? Riding 80 miles a day to work through winter, I find boots are probably the single most important piece of kit. Many look the part but just aren’t warm enough when it comes to the crunch. Even the tiniest water leak is a disaster.

These, I can happily report, have proved absolutely 100% waterproof and have a very effective thermal lining. I’ve worn them on long rides through snow and my feet have felt snug and warm throughout.

They do-up on the inside leg, which make them easier to put on. For Gore-Tex boots with the Alpinestars name on them, they’re very well priced.

What’s not? The styling may be a little understated for Alpinestars fans. Personally, I prefer it that way. One of the zips sometimes gets its teeth crossed.
