HJC RPHA10+ Carbon helmet, £399.99
Time tested: Six months/2000 miles
What’s good? HJC’s top-of-the-range sports helmet boasts a carbon-fibre shell, keeping it light, and it’s the most comfortable helmet I've ever worn. The light weight is fantastic and the finish is excellent, with a hexagonal pattern running across the outer layer of the carbon shell. But it’s not all about flashy looks as practical touches abound – an extra-large Pinlock anti-mist insert, super-quick but secure visor fastening and great ventilation make this my choice for both daily riding and my occasional excursions on the track.
What’s not? I can't seem to take the helmet off without removing the chin curtain in the process, which suggests it’s not clipped in very securely, though it could be more to do with my odd-shaped head than the lid.
