Skidmarx hugger for Yamaha FJR 1300, £84.95
Time tested: 2300 miles/three months
What’s good? I rode a Yamaha FJR1300 in 2013, through all weathers, so the bike was used to getting a bit clarty considering all the rain we had last year. It was not until the last three months I decided to fit a Skidmarx rear hugger (better late than never). It’s straightforward enough to fit as long as you have the right spanners and when I attached the stainless steel mounting brackets to the glass-reinforced hugger, I could not but appreciate the quality of the manufacturing that had gone into the brackets alone. As for the hugger itself, I could see my face in the deep black gloss finish. Sometimes when you fit something to a bike it detracts from the look, but I really think this enhances the bike. As far as protection goes it stops the spray off the rear wheel massively and also stops the grime and grit getting into the shock and the suspension linkage, which in the long-term has got to be better for the bike.
What’s not? It’s just plus, plus, plus, I haven’t found any negatives.
