Mutt Razorback 125 packs bark and bite

Mutt are going from strength-to-strength in 2020. They’ve unveiled two all-new bikes and they opened the doors to their East London store back in March. If you’re not familiar with Mutt, they’ve made their name with cool 125s and 250s that they ship in from the Far East, then customise and get ready for sale in their Birmingham HQ.

Until now they’ve been relatively simple, classic looking twin-shocks but now they’ve got an all-new bike that’s ready to shake things up a bit.

Called the Razorback, the machine comes in two flavours – a scrambler style and a flat-tracker – but they’re both essentially the same motorcycle underneath. The Razorback is powered by an air-cooled 125cc single, which puts outs 11.8bhp (making it L-plate friendly) and is derived from the Suzuki GN motor, so we’ll likely kick the bucket before it does.

What’s brand new is the frame that’s been designed by Mutt to be a monoshock, giving a much more modern aesthetic. Up front there’s a pair of USD forks (a Mutt first) – and it’s got nearly 200mm travel front and rear.

What’s really lovely about the machine is its attention to detail, with the wide bars, off-road pegs and strong bashplate making it off-road ready. There’s even a smart little custom protector on the fork leg to prevent you bashing any cables if you get really gnarly.

Despite the classic looks there’s plenty of modern tech floating around including linked brakes, LED lighting throughout and a digital mini-speedo. The scrambler-esque one is shod with knobblies, while the tracker has classic flat tracker hoops. Not a bad prospect for £3495.

Mutt unveiled the new machines at the launch of their new concept store in Bethnal Green, East London. As well as the full range of new bikes, the shop also has a load of cool clothing, plus a workshop out the back if you need something done. Once we’re virus free, it could be the perfect place for a coffee and chillout, too.
