Alpinestars Quick Seal Out Jacket and Pants £89.99
Time used:
Six months

What’s good: I’ve had more use out of these two-piece waterproofs than I’d like this year, thanks to all the rain we’ve had. They’re lightweight and fold away to almost nothing, so you can keep them in a rucksack or tank bag without taking up loads of room, which is handy.

The jacket is easy to get on over leathers, even if you’ve got a big speed hump, as it zips-up fully at the front. The neck is high enough to keep the wind off, although I wear a neck warmer as well.

The bottoms have a Velcro fastening, which opens up the hem to the size of 70s flares, so they’re easy to get over boots – a godsend when you’re putting them on under a bridge in the rain on a busy motorway.

What’s not: They’re not very thick, so aren’t that warm and it’ll be interesting to see how durable they’ll be. My previous Astars waterproofs are still going strong after six or seven years, but are now a bit smelly and tired-looking.
