TT & road races

Ian Hutchinson’s season may have come to an abrupt end. He requires further surgery on the leg he smashed so badly in a crash at Silverstone in 2010 and re-broke at the start of this year.
Hutchy made a comeback with a successful TT campaign, finishing all four of his races and with a best result of sixth in Supersport 2. He was looking forward to a strong run in the Senior after spending practice and the Superbike TT getting the R1 set-up to suit him.
Post TT, he had been scheduled to race in the British Supersport championship for the rest of this year, and in the Ulster Grand Prix but now faces more surgery on the injured leg.
Swan Yamaha team boss Shaun Muir said: “We’re still waiting to see what the surgeons say about the future but we’re certainly not sticking Ian out in any races until his fully fit.”
That leaves Muir without a rider for the Ulster GP and he said: “We’ll probably not run anyone there. We’ve a commitment to run Tommy (Hill) at the Suzuka Eight Hour and, that, with our BSB schedule, means we’re pretty busy anyway.”
Hutchinson was unavailable for comment.
