My steering lock came on mid corner!

I have a 1992 Kawasaki ZZR1100 and I love it but it tried to kill me the other day. Whilst riding around a slow tight turn the steering lock came on. Well I never want to have that experience again. Biking is dangerous enough without your own bike having a pop at you. How I stayed on and never dropped her I’ll never know. The lock bar has now been removed.
