  • Born again Motorist Pt1

29 September 2007 by Chris Bevan

Why? I think my dad played a massive role in me hankering after a motorcycle in the first place. He used to recite stories of how his dad use to have my grandmother on the back of my granddads bike and have my dad and his brother in the sidecar and go to Southend or Clacton. And then when he got a job at Rex Judd in Edgware, a large motorcycle shop who still exist today. Plus the bikes he used to...

My story isn't very special, but my girlfriend is and I'd like her to read this. All my life I've never owned a brand new vehicle until 5 weeks ago when I purchased a Kawasaki GTR1400 in metallic black. To me it's the best bike on the planet and have already done nearly 4000 miles on it but today we were informed that we have to find £15,000 or lose the house because of her ex. For me it's a not a...

  • Killer headlines

    25 September 2007 by intravene

The BBC reported today that motorcycle fatalaties in Northern Ireland have risen considerably in the last year. Not good news but fair enough. Not so fair though is what feels like an underlying prejudice against motorcyclists and monotone reporting from the BBC. An example is the accompanying quote from Environment Minister Arlene Foster: "It has caused me considerable concern at the number of...

  • Anti-bike petrol stations

    22 September 2007 by iancol

You have to be a bit more sympathetic to the petrol stations. There must have been bad experiences for the helmets-off policy to have been adopted in so many places. It's not universal, thank heavens. My local is a Morrisons place and, even though it asks bikers to de-hat, they don't enforce it. In my case, when I first went in I apologised for keeping my helmet on with the excuse that it's a...

  • Car drivers... Grrr!

i was riding in town centre in Southampton and some absolute knob decided to sideswipe me in the Merc! Damage to him... small scratch and a dent. Damages to me... cracked fairing and a dead leg for an hour. These bloody posh car drivers need to get a grip and drop the "king of the road" attitude. Us bikers pay tax as well so why are we getting pushed off the road by t*ats in their posh boxes!...
