Proguard Fleximonitors custom earphones, £219.00
Time used:
One year

What’s good: This is my second review of these custom moulded in-ear headphones and I’m even more impressed with them a year on. They’re made from rubbery plastic using a mould taken from your ear.

They do two things: block out as much noise as a normal foam earplug and let you listen to your music. They block out so much wind noise that you don’t even need to crank the volume up.

I’ve been on some big trips this year, with hours and hours of motorway to contend with, and these have been fantastic at keeping the boredom at bay.

In one case it was a case of sticking the iPod on shuffle and listening to 16 hours of non-stop music from St.Tropez to Stamford.

What’s not: Listening to music is distracting at any other time than tedious motorway journeys, so at all other times I turn my tunes off, and the earphones become earplugs.
