Product Review: Alpinestars Oscar Monty (£169.99)
What’s good about the Alpinestars Oscar Monty?
These hand-finished CE-certified riding boots are fresh from Alpinestars’ new Oscar range of retro protective clothing. Made from thick, vintage-effect, full-grain leather with a grippy, oil-resistant rubber sole, these boots are satisfyingly sturdy and comfortable, on and off a bike. They’re padded around the toes, heels and ankle areas for added protection and although they’re not billed as being waterproof, I’ve worn them in heavy rain a few times and my feet have stayed dry. As you’d expect from a company that made their name making boots, these riding shoes are extremely well made and the leather is the kind that looks better once it’s been beaten about and worn-in. They’ve been warm in the cold weather we’ve been having recently, but the breathable 3D mesh lining will help when it eventually gets round to warming up.
And what’s not?
It’s not a two-minute job to get them on, but that’s the price you pay for a sturdy boot. They not the cheapest, but they’re well worth it.
