Knox Handroid £199

Knox Handroid gloves

Daniel Storey
Rides Triumph Tiger
Used for Six years

“Knox Handroids are the best gloves on the market. Stylish, comfortable with all the protection that is required. I had a spill in my first pair and the kangaroo leather held up really well and did what was required. The first pair were repaired free of charge by Knox after the wrist closure failed and I’m now on my second pair and wouldn’t go back to any other brand. I’ve done about 5000 miles in them.” MCN’s Matt Wildee also rates Handroids –it’s his pair in the picture here.

Dainese Veloce £70

Dainese Veloce gloves

Lucy Lang
Rides Yamaha YBR125
Used for Three years

“I swear by my Dainese gloves. I’ve crashed three times in mine and the knuckle protectors are a little scuffed but other than that, no rips or tears and my hands have always escaped any bruising, and once they’re worn in you forget you’re wearing them – they’re so comfy. In the past you’ve been able to get them from Bikestop for £70.”

Rukka Viruim £149

Rukka Virium gloves

Paul Nicholson
Rides Suzuki V-Strom
Used for Three months

“I don’t think they’re technically summer gloves, but I wear waterproof gloves in the summer. They have a Gore-Tex lining and are lightweight, comfy with hidden armour. They still have plenty of feel, but are easy to get on and off, and have a visor wiper on the index finger for those inevitable British summer showers. They cost me £134.99 from GetGeared and that was with the V-Strom Owners group discount.”

Alpinestars SP8 £64.99

Alpinestars SP8 gloves

Ricky Hynd
Rides Suzuki GSX-R750
Used for Two years

“I really love these gloves. Good feel, comfortable for a 300-mile plus day, enough adjustability in the cuff to go over or under a jacket and I trust the brand. I’ve used them for 6000 road miles and a trackday with no problems and they’re not too expensive either.”

Knox Recon £90

Knox Recon gloves

Kelvin Turner
Rides Yamaha FJR1300
Used for Seven years

“I rate then highly. They’ve been repaired by Knox as the fingertips wore through on a couple of digits. The tips of the index and third fingers on the left glove wore through due to Velcro and clutch lever action so Knox replaced them for £25. They also replaced the Boa ratchet adjuster on one glove. This was FOC as the Boa has a lifetime guarantee. I’ve ridden over 60,000 miles in them and will be gutted when I have to bin them. They are fab and the support from Knox is first class.”
