Kit review: Scorpion Exo 1000

Scorpion Exo 1000, £265 (plain black is £259)

Tester: Laura Kennerley

Miles covered/time: 1500 miles/one month

What's good? The everclear anti-fog visor didn't steam up once, not even in the most severe downpours the British summer could throw at me. The visor was also a doddle to get on and off, and didn't need locking in to place even at high speeds. The retractable sun visor was really handy as a response to the ever-changing British weather and easy to use. The lid was comfortable, but a bit of a squash with my glasses and the air pump system - which inflates the check pads - did actually make the lid a better fit.

What's not? It leaked. A nice summer ride to Scotland, in driving rain and howling winds saw water dripping from the top of the closed visor on to my nose. However, once reported to Scorpion the problem was fixed quickly (the visor seal was replaced) and my nose has been dry ever since. The road noise was a bit of a problem too, even with ear plugs it was pretty loud on the motorway.
