HJC RPHA10+ helmet, £349.99
Tester: Andy Calton
Time tested: One year/3500 miles
What’s good? This helmet is light (1300 grams), reasonably priced and is still in good condition after a year’s use. I like the traditional D-ring fastening and the vents seem to work well too. The clip on the front of the visor is easy to work, even with thick winter gloves on. It comes with a Pinlock system and the visibility is good. Other than the glasses issue (see below), the lid is comfortable. I also think that, for the money, it’s a good-looking lid and I’ve worn it all conditions – on track, long hauls and in rain and shine – and I’ve always been happy with it. Changing between visors (clear and tinted) is easy and intuitive.
What’s not? It’s very tight when trying to get my glasses in place properly and I often find they dig into my face due to the tightness of the padding.
