Kriega R20 rucksack, £65
Miles covered/time: 15,000/four years
What’s good? The build quality, the fact it’s just about big enough to cram my stuff in for a day at work and it stays comfortable over long distances thanks to the clever ‘Quadlock-lite’ harness.
This means one click buckle does it all up; and it’s a cinch even with the thickest of winter gloves on.
What’s not? It doesn’t claim to be waterproof but does seep a little bit of water after a heavy downpour.
The waist strap is a bit narrow and the ends inevitably come loose and start that high speed whipping despite elastic loops.
