Get ready for summer with this fantastic bike gear
With temperatures soaring into double figures this week, it’s hard not to cast our minds forward to the warmer conditions of the spring and summer months.
With that in mind, here’s MCN’s pick of the top summer gear to stay cool (but more importantly look cool) in the sunshine.
Arai Chaser X Hutchy replica helmet - £549.99
The Isle of Man TT is a motorbike racing highlight of the summer, so why not emulate your heroes as you explore the hot tarmac on two wheels. This Hutchy replica looks great and is based on Arai’s fantastic Chaser X helmet, so it will keep you safe should you need it.
Only 300 of this helmet were made, so if you want to show your support to the sixteen-time TT winner you’d better get in quick.
Alpinestars GP Plus R V2 Airflow leather jacket – £319.99
Pulling on a hot jacket is the last thing you want to do when the weather is nice, but it’s not worth the risk of going without and coming to grief. Luckily, jackets like this one from Alpinestars are designed to keep you cool on the move with advanced ventilation and perforation.
The V2 Airflow is designed to stretch and move with your body and has perforated panels to increase ventilation race-derived CE armour is still fitted at the shoulders and elbows.
RST Tractech Evo CE short leather gloves - £59.99
A short-cuff glove is a must in warmer weather as it allows a breeze up your sleeves and is generally less cumbersome than a longer version.
These Tractechs still pack in carbon fibre knuckle protection and reinforced aramid stitching on the palms. Pre-curved fingers maximise comfort on the bars, too.
Resurgence Pekev Voyager jeans - £240
As much as we bikers enjoy a little attention, no one wants to be that person at the barbeque in full race leathers, sweating and squeaking their way around. Denim offers some abrasion protection, but nothing like that offered by modern riding jeans like these ones from Resurgence.
Made with Pekev, the world’s strongest polymer, they are a CE 2 certified garment that look like normal jeans. They also have flexiform protection at the hip and knee.
The cut is wide enough to fit over your boots, and stirrups mean they won’t ride up and expose your skin in a slide.
Alpinestars Stadium boots - £132.99
And finally, motorbike boots offer amazing protection while riding and normally have enough flex built in to operate the bike’s foot controls, but they can be a pain to walk around in and aren’t exactly stylish (to non-bikers).
These Alpinestars boots look like regular hi-tops, but have built in ankle and heel protection, toe box and a reinforced midsole. The perforated panels will also keep your feet cool in hot weather.
