Bike of the day: Yamaha YBR125

Published: 24 March 2018

Why it’s MCN’s pick:

Ok, it’s not the most glamorous of motorcycles, but the YBR125 has probably put more riders through their CBT test than anything else out there so let’s give it a bit of love.

Introduced in 2005, the YBR is a basic commuter that riders grow to love due to its rugged nature. If you look at the owners’ reviews on motorcyclenews.com, very few have a bad word to say about this 125. But it is very basic…

TOP 125s

Powered (if this is the right word) by an air-cooled single that makes 10bhp, the YBR isn’t going to win any traffic light GPs, but it is frugal (90mpg is very achievable), light and very, very cheap. Buy one for less than £1500 and it will probably still be merrily chugging along when your kid’s grandkids decide to take up two-wheels. Or all the petrol runs out…

Seller says:

“A very clean YBR125 that is totally standard and original with 18,661 miles on its clocks. These are great, reliable commuters or first bikes and are very easy to ride. Comes with two keys, an owner’s manual and a service history as well as old MOT certificates.”
