Bike of the Day: Honda VFR1200X Crosstourer
Why it’s MCN’s pick:
Today’s Bike of the Day continues the adventure theme, but once again it is one that is generally overlooked by the majority of the buying public – Honda’s Crosstourer.
In some ways the clue is in the name as Honda didn’t call their adventure-styled bike anything rugged that hinted at any off-road ability such as the Tenere or Adventure and instead decided on a fairly relaxed Crosstourer branding. Why? Because that’s exactly what this bike is designed to do – tour. Think of the Crosstourer as a Pan European or VFR with longer travel suspension and you won’t be disappointed.

Powered by the VFR1200F’s V4 motor (which comes with either a DCT or conventional gearbox) there is no denying the Crosstourer is a big old beast, but get it moving and this weight translates into stability and for churning out the miles, the Crosstourer is excellent. Hit the back roads and the soft suspension lets the side down slightly, but take it easy and it’s not a bad bike at all. Just one that really doesn’t want to be taken off-road!
“Having covered only 29,612 miles and with a full service history from its three previous owners, this Crosstourer is in great condition. It comes with aluminium panniers, crash bars, a radiator guard and hand guards. Well worth a look, a lovely bike and that V4 bring s a new dimension to the adventure bike package.”
