Star-studded bumper line-up set for Lord of Lydden extravaganza this weekend
Lord of Lydden
Just a week after winning his eighth World title, Tim Reeves and passenger Mark Wilkes will be among an amazing line-up of riders racing in the historic Lord of Lydden event this weekend at Lydden Hill Race Circuit.
Reeves will battle to become the Sidecar Burnup Champion for the second year in a row, as over 160 competitors take to the Kent circuit, with a broad range of clubman racers to World Champions, and riders spanning from eight to eighty years of age.
Among the various different categories, Riders in the Open Class (250cc – 1300cc) will face BSB Superstock rider Tom Ward – from Canterbury – along with BSB Ducati Trioptions Cup winner Andy Booth. BEMSEE Championship Team Respro MRO 600 Clubman rider Phillip Baker, Thunder Bike extreme rider David Abraham, who finished second in the BEMSEE Championship this year and David Krawiecki, who finished third in the MSS performance MRO 600 Clubman this year, will also race in the Open class.
G-Force Motorcycles Blue Haze GPF Champion Billy Perkins is set to compete in Production 400.
BSB F1 / F2 sidecar championship racers Brian Gray and Shawn Hildridge will also be in action, alongside DFDS Yamaha Pastmasters winner Doug Edmondson, who will compete in the Classic Sidecar class.
BMCRC Solo and Sidecar champion Trevor Stafford will be racing in F1 / F2 sidecar, along with BSB Molson F1 sidecar competitor Andy Peach.
And, while 2002 Lord of Lydden Alex Symon has decided to dust off his bike and return for the 2019 extravaganza, in addition to the star-studded line-up, Luke and Ryan Dixon, nephews of former Lord of Lydden and Sidecar burnup champion Darren Dixon – the only man in history to win both titles, alongside his Sidecar World Championship – will be in action in the Open Class.
Competitors from every category including those aforementioned, and the Yamaha 600cc (pre-1986), MZs, Supertwins, BSSO Super and Stock Scooters and FAB Racing (for 6 to 17-year old mini GP riders), will battle for a chance to qualify for the coveted Lord of Lydden and Sidecar Burn Up races that will bring the weekend’s action to a climax on Sunday afternoon, where all of the riders will race for £2500 worth of prize money.
Other famous guests in attendance to meet the fans will include BSB rider Bradley Ray on Saturday, and eight-time World Champion Phil Read MBE, who will be present all weekend.
The fun doesn't stop off-track; Worried about missing the rugby world cup semi-finals? Don’t! The circuit will be playing both matches in the heated hospitality suite. Bradley Ray, Phil Read MBE, and Evan Belford will be giving all event campers and Saturday spectators an insight into past, present, and future of motorcycle racing in a question and answer session, followed by evening entertainment and a cash bar Saturday night, where there will be a pie and pint night deal for only £9.95!
Available all weekend will be a Joey Dunlop TT motorbike simulator, children’s entertainment, street food, a heated bar, ex-Lord's of Lydden autograph sessions, static motorbike displays, club stands, Kent Youth Trials Club, and much, much more.
