£5m in fines for speeding through roadworks

UK motorists paid more than £5m in fines last year for speeding through motorway roadworks according to a recent survey. The M2 in Kent caught the most drivers, a total of 16,978. Paul Smith of Safe Speed said: “These figures are an outrage. The best science we have says that speed cameras increase crashes and crash severity in motorway roadworks.”

Great Lincolnshire Road

Big fine for 183mph biker

A South African motorcyclist has been fined R102000 (£7371.10) after he was caught speeding at 183mph in KwaZulu-Natal. The fine was also set by magistrates for the rider, jan Hendrick, not displaying number plates and riding an unlicensed motorbike. He’ll only have to pay R50000 at the moment, but if he commits a similar crime int he next five years, the balance of the fine will then be due.
