Product Review: Alpinestars S-MX 1.1 Boots
Alpinestars S-MX 1.1, £129.99
Time tested: Two months/2000 miles
What’s good? I have worn these ankle boots through the summer and on a couple of long weekends away and, after the initial strange feeling that half my boot was missing, I soon got used to them. Being lighter weight they are great to wear on warm summer days but they’re only really any good being worn under jeans or textile kit as they are too short for any leathers to tuck into them.
What’s not? They leak like a sieve but they are not sold as waterproof boots so perhaps I am being a little harsh. They offer the same protection around the ankle, heel and toes and are styled in a similar way to Alpinestars’ full-length boots but I am a little concerned about the level of safety they offer. I feel a little vulnerable as I’m used to wearing full-length boots with shin protectors.
