Held Rano jacket, £49.99; Tempest trousers, £37.99
Miles covered/time: 1000/three months
What’s good? Not the usual cheap tat waterproofs that feel like a shell suit from the 1980s. The jacket has a built in hood for when you are off the bike in the rain, and elastic cuffs to keep the water out. The jacket is tested 100% waterproof, and much brighter than it look in pictures – perfect for being spotted in dark rainy conditions. You don’t have to be an advanced motorcyclist or former policeman to wear fluorescent clothing. The trousers are as waterproof as the jacket, and have a handy, large side zip for easy access, perfect for when you are in a rush at the side of the road.
What’s not? Nothing really apart from they are on the pricy side and they don’t come in their own bag like some waterproofs which roll up into impossibly tiny bags.
