Product review: Aerostich Ultralight rain pants

Aerostich Ultralight rain pants, $77 (£67)
Miles covered/time: 7000 miles/nine months

What’s good? The ultimate in lightweight, waterproof nylon over-trousers. I spent much of the summer riding in Kevlar jeans so the fact that these waterproofs pack into such a small palm-sized package, making it easy to stash away, make them a must for any journey.

The seam-sealed side zips make it easy to pull on and off and the elasticated drawstring waist allow them to fit snugly and comfortably.

They kept me dry in a heavy downpour recently – testimony to their waterproof capabilities.

What’s not?  The drawstring is an awkward single-sided thread. If it used a double-ended tightening, life would be much easier.
