Product review: Airhawk seat

1 of 1

Airhawk seat, £159
Miles covered/time:
1200/one month

What’s good? This is probably the most effective motorcycle product I’ve ever tested. Before fitting it, my KTM Duke test bike became a pain in the bum after 40 miles of riding.

Now the world is my oyster, having completing a 900-mile tour of Normandy in a long weekend with no saddle-soreness.

The Airhawk is basically an inflatable neoprene pillow with interconnected air pockets that redistribute the rider’s weight to cushion the pressure points which cause numbness and pain.

It’s available in five sizes, so whatever the type of bike, if it’s got an uncomfortable saddle there’s an Airhawk to fit – including pillions.

What’s not? More of an observation than a criticism, but initially it’s easy to over-inflate the Airhawk, which makes you feel like you’re riding on top of a bouncy castle. The key is to deflate it as much as possible for maximum effectiveness.
