Product Review: The Age of 27 documentary (£6.99)

What’s good about The Age of 27?

The Age of 27 is a 56-minute online film that tells the story of Casey Stoner, from his dirt track beginnings in Australia to his two MotoGP championships with Ducati and Honda. It features interviews from racers, crew members and family and is one of the documentaries now available to rent (or buy) on MotoGP’s YouTube channel. If you have an hour or so to kill you pay your small fee and watch the film wherever you are.

And what’s not?

Although it’s an hour long, the documentary feels rushed and formulaic. Stoner’s rivals, family and crew members say a few words, followed by a montage of him in action set to some cheesy music. I didn’t expect a big-budget Hollywood blockbuster, but it’s a bit ‘this happened, then that happened’. The makers could have been a little more creative.
