The Kawasaki Ninja 650 replaced the ER-6f as the firm’s supertwin offering in 2017. Aimed at newer riders and commuters, the Ninja uses a manageable, 67bhp parallel-twin engine wrapped in a sporty, faired package.
Despite its budget price (£6,449 for a new one), it feels solid and well-put-together. It’s light and nimble which makes it incredibly good fun to flick around and the engine pulls from anywhere above 4000rpm in the rev range.
If you plan on doing a lot of trackdays, the Kawasaki ZX-6R would be the Kwak to go for, but the Ninja 650 is arguably more fun on the road, not to mention safer for your licence.
