Top 5 used-bike bargains for under £1500

Published: 26 July 2017

Bikes for sale

Modern bikes are great, sure, with their traction control, ABS, and other fancy bits, but they also come with pretty hefty price tags.

How about you forget about all that for a second, as we focus on some bikes which are available for less. Much less.

All the used bikes listed below are currently up for sale for less than £1500, and they're not rust buckets, either. Yeah, they're bot going to win any prizes, but as cheap everyday transport they're spot on.

So here are five of our favourites currently for sale on MCN Bikes for Sale.

TOP STORIES

Honda CBR600F, £1100

MCN says

“The Honda CBR600F is an iconic motorcycle that provides effortless practicality with a bit of sportiness for when the mood takes you. Their practicality means many were pressed into service as everyday bikes so may, such as this one, are high mileage but they're incredibly reliable so don't let that put you off.”

Kawasaki ZX-6R, £1495

MCN says

“Another sporty 600 from the time before sport 600s were, well, sporty. The ZX-6R is sportier than the CBR600F but still nothing like the track scalpel 600 supersport bikes of today. They're comfy, useable with a strong engine. This one's covered less than 25,000 miles which is surprising when you consider it's 20 years old.”

Yamaha XJ600 Diversion, £888

MCN says

“Stepping away from sportsbikes we have Yamaha's Diversion. There's no getting away from the fact that the Diversion isn't an exciting bike, but if you want reliable everyday trnasport it's perfect. The screen offers good protection and the brakes, engine and handling are all predictable. The Skoda Fabia of bikes, but that's no bad thing.”

Triumph Trident 900, £1450

MCN says

“The Trident 900, although understated, was one of the best bikes to come out of the new Hinckley factory. The three-cyinder engine produces a good spread of torque and more than enough to have fun while the handling and comfort were both predictable. That half fairing looks like it will keep you dry no mater the weather.”

Suzuki Bandit 600, £1400

MCN says

“It's a Bandit. They're legendary, incredibly popular and you know exactly what you're getting. The 600cc Bandit is a great bike for newcomers and experienced riders alike. Much like the Yamaha Diversion above, they're incredibly simple machines that just get on and do the job. That paintjob definitely won't be to everyone's tastes though.”
